Ed & Andrea – Bradford

Today we were blessed with an overcast day, that produced some fantastic light to work with. I arrived at the house and spent around 30 minutes with Andrea, as the makeup artist made her final touches. I did a few detailed shots of the flowers, dress, shoes and the wedding car, before heading onto the church where I met Ed. Ed was very relaxed, chatting to friends and family. The light inside the church was superb and I manged to find a perfect spot that was out of the way of the service.

Matthew & Laura – Crow Hill

Blue sky and blazing sunshine. Every brides dream, every photographers nightmare...Today was one of those more challenging weddings as the sun was out in force. Harsh contrasts with lots of squinting of the eyes and sweating of the brow. The trick is to monitor the cloud situation, because on days like this, clouds are your friends, as the momentarily provide you with quality to light to work with. Set your compositions and keep a careful eye on what is happening up above then make your move. Obviously people move around, but you just have to be patient. That shot you want, will always transpire...eventually. I...

Matt & Sam

Well after a well deserved three months off, last Saturday (12th March) was my first wedding of 2011 and what a fantastic day it was. I arrived at the Yorkshire Hotel about 30 minutes before schedule, just to spend some time having a walk around the hotel and getting myself reacquainted with the place. At 11am I went upstairs to meet Sam who was just getting the final touch ups to her make-up done. It wasn't long until I got back into the swing of things as there was some beautiful light coming into the room. The side profile shot of Sam (image 2) was taken using just a small amount of natural...

Paul & Libby – Bradford

Bradford Cathedral is an amazing venue for wedding photography, and I was excited about returning here to shoot Paul & Libby’s wedding. Paul & Libby were a very vibrant modern young couple, both now living in London but wanting to go back to their Northern roots for their choice of venue. Guests were treated to a vintage bus ride to the Cathedral where they met with Paul. Libby arrived shortly after with her dad in a London Cab (white of course!). We were very lucky to have beautiful weather perfect for photography with amazing light inside the Cathedral. After the ceremony, drinks and canapés...

Dan & Julie

Today I travelled up to North Yorkshire to what must be one of the most impressive Chapels in the North. Dan & Julia had chosen the Giggleswick School Chapel as their wedding venue – Giggleswick School Chapel is a magnificent Grade II listed Chapel, which has an unusual copper dome and jaw dropping interior. The architecture of the building is truly amazing, and the light penetrating through the stained glass window makes it a real pleasure to shoot. I met up with Dan at the nearby Black Horse Pub, and we walked the short distance to the Chapel. As you can see, the photography inside the Chapel...

Rob & Alex

Saturday saw a welcome return for me to the St Parish Church of St Peter in Woolley. It’s a terrific little venue in rural Yorkshire, and an excellent choice for Rob and Alex. The Revd Stephen Kelly gave a wonderful service and then guests had chance to relax in the grounds of St Peter’s before heading off to the reception held at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield. On arrival guests were treated to champagne and canapés which everyone enjoyed chatting away in the glorious sunshine on the stunning school lawns. A few hours passed before everyone sat down for dinner...

Dave & Laura

I was really excited about shooting Dave and Laura’s wedding at the Scarborough Spa. It really is a unique and wonderful outdoor location right on the sea front. I arrived to glorious sunshine and blue sky and had a walk round taking a few light readings. I met up with Dave and his best man who were both putting the final touches to the dinning room. The guests arrived and enjoyed drinks in the bar as Laura made her final touches to her hair and make-up. She looked amazing. Unfortunately the clouds had rolled in but thankfully the rain held off and guests were treated to a really beautiful and romantic...
